Didn't like this place at all. The staff was very pleasant however the food left us wanting to flee. I don't know if we just built up a high set of expectation seeing the crowds as we passed but we won't be back. Just not a place to be bookmarked for our family.

We love this place. Having lived in Germany, we enjoy the food, the ambience, and the owner's dedication to authenticity. Since they have started making their own beer, it has been especially enjoyable. We always look forward to visiting.

Service was horrible... Went there with some friends and i had to ask to be served . The waitress was more interested in the older gentleman in the corner rather then doing her job . Took about 30mins to get our drink order tea came out quickly but the beers took about another 15 and by the time our beers came out the food was right behind it. The food was just okay but not worth the price .

I've been here a couple times for lunch when I was in the area and it is always good. Good German food and beer selection. Nice outside patio area as well, but plenty of indoor seating. Will return if I am in the area again.

Wonderful find would highly recommend real German food and excellent German potato salad to die for

Not bad for a German restaurant in Atlanta, Ga. The night we went it was trivia night and they were short staffed. The food took a while. But the owner was out there making it happen as best he could. I liked the Gruyere Spaetzle and the Sauerbraten just OK. You can buy pastry and cookies at their shop near the entry.

Potato pancake and salmon dish was light and tasty. The jäger snitzel awesome. The gravy made the dish. I would definately order it again. The giant pretzel was giant and fantastic with the best German mustard ever! The Dunkle beer was wonderful. This is great food but heavy fare. I'd recommend sharing or going in with a hangover or new for carb loading.

This place is amazing!!!! The beer was a little bit pricy, BUT is worth it if you love beer. My wife and I bought the sausage platter for two. It was VERY good! The kids enjoyed their spetzle and brautwurst. Then for dessert the sweet old German lady that hand makes all the desserts came out and guided us through our choice....German chocolate cake and a lady bug. Both were delicious! All in all, make a trip and try this place. You will love it so SO much!

After eating here several times since, and realizing just how good the food is I am upgrading this to four stars - despite the obnoxious, "sharing" fee. I really haven't had better German food than this - anywhere.

Ate lunch here. Great authentic german. I have onky had better in Helen, GA. A bit pricy as most of the meals are 13-17 bucks. Ruben sandwich is excellent! Very cool atmosphere. A great place to stop before or after visiting Stone Mountain.

First time here, went on a family dinner. Food was okay, nothing special and we aren't fussy eaters. The giant pretzel and the house brewed cider was the best of what we had. The decor is rustic, the bathroom was clean but the waitress was quite blunt and bland. The prices are on the high side and service wasn't the fastest, but overall I had a nice night with my family, but most likely not come here again.

Stopped by here on accident after a wrong turn in Stone Mountain. Terrific authentic German place. We tried several sausages and were pleased. The pretzels and mustard also very good. Next time I will get burger as I tried a little piece of the meat and it was very flavorful. They also brew their own beer. The Pilsner was my favorite.

Really fell below my expectations. The food was cold and not very good. We voiced our displeasure with our meal and the service and the manager offered us a free dessert. We each picked out a dessert only to find that they put it on our bill at the end of the meal. When we questioned this, the server said the owner didn't agree with the managers decision to give us a free dessert and we had to pay for them. Needless to say, we sought out the owner and expressed our extreme displeasure with the way she handled the situation. She found nothing wrong with the way she handled the situation, so we had to agree to disagree. I will never, ever return to this place.

On Wednesday nights they have live bluegrass music, which is great. It's a bit on the pricey side. My wife and I had dinner here and bought drinks and an app for two friends, and the total came to $106 including tip. It was "worth it" in the sense that we enjoyed treating our friends, but we'd eat here a lot more if some of the entrees weren't so steep. The pickings are a bit slim right now for sit-down meals in Stone Mountain, and this place has character and heart. I want the place to succeed.

We went in for breakfast, and glad we did. The food was super tasty, they were very accommodating and friendly, and the prices were fair. The environment is fun, with every table having a unique flair to it. They also have an awesome bakery, with some great looking apple bread. Wish we lived in the area!

I really hate to give this place a negative review because I have had a couple good meals here. The first time I came, I met some friends for brunch and the eggs florentine was pretty good. Then I came back for dinner and I was really surprised at how expensive the meals were and how salty everything was. I get it- it's German food- but jeeze! On the positive side, this is hands down the best place to eat in Stone Mountain. It's also tastier German food for better value than you'd get in Helen. And the atmosphere is kinda nice and cozy inside.

The Schwein Haxe was fabulous!!! I haven't had such tender, juicy and sweet pork for a long time. According to my husband, who lived in Stuttgart for a year 10 years ago, the pretzel, german sausages and beer didn't taste as authentic as he remembered. But to me, good food is good food, and they're all great! Yummz!!! All the staff we encountered were truly friendly and sweet! We are coming again with friends next time~

Wow! I cannot express how much I love the food and the people. Not only is their food super tasty, but they went out of their way to help me. I accidentally locked my keys in my car, and they actually went outside with me and used tools to unlock it! I will never forget their kindness :)oh and their Waldorf soup is the bomb!

After a cold outing at Stone Mountain for their Christmas shin-dig thing, we had a BBQ place bookmarked to check out for dinner for the fam after the event, only to drive by and find it was closed that evening. Luckily, we drove right by Village Corner, and even though we had some really picky eaters with us, they agreed to this location, so in we walked. It was a little bit later, and with 6 of us (2 being little ones) we waited about 20 minutes or so for a table (but it didn't seem terribly crowded, although it was a Saturday night.) Let me step back a moment. Parking was a little crazy. There is parking up front and more on the side, but for a moment, it seemed like the entire world forgot how to drive, so while waiting for one car to pull out to snag that spot, about 3 others tried to cram in, and well, it was just a mess. But back to it... after being with the family all afternoon, a beer was in order for Adam and I, so we went ahead up to the bar and ordered their Oktoberfest. Maybe it was the angst from the day, but it hit the spot and we ordered another round with the quickness. And I do always appreciate an in house brew. When we were seated, the server was super friendly (she was also taking care of the bar, so that might have been why we waited just a bit) but brought the kids place mats and crayons, to keep them occupied. I wasn't terribly hungry, so we ordered the potato pancakes, and she suggested the smoked salmon to go along with it. Done. I also had to have one of those pretzels I kept seeing in the pics, so done as well. The pretzel was huge... (in my pic, my niece is trying to snag a bite, but even with her tiny hand you can see how big it is. It's full size plate big. It was pretty solid, though not outstanding, but make sure you check out the mustard for dipping. It's a little sweet (which I'm more a savory gal) but I really did enjoy it. The potato pancakes, were killer. The smoked salmon on the side was amazing as well, and they did not last long. So while we didn't have the full entree experience, that beer saved our lives (well, nerves at least) and the environment was comfy and cozy. And good to know it's close to Stone Mountain, so a nice little stop before or after a day out.

Went here after we walked the mountain on a Sunday morning for brunch. My friend had the shrimp risotto with veggies that she said was good. I had the cornbeef and hash with 2 over easy eggs on top. It was ok. It tasted like it was missing something. The service was slow. She never came back to check on us nor see if we needed a refill on our drinks. We had to flag her down to get our check.

Okay I REALLY want to like this place, a lot. I read all the reviews and got all riled up about trying some of the baked goods and the breakfast. Also, after an incident at the Brockett Pub turned us off, we've been looking for a new bar-type restaurant to hang out at and had high hopes for the Village Corner. I went earlier this week to grab a slice of cake or some baklava, and ended up buying nothing. I stood around at the counter for a while and no one helped me, nor could I locate anyone who worked there. I didn't see any cake that really caught my eye, and I couldn't tell how fresh any of the baked good were, either. There're a bunch of loaves of bread and bundt cakes and stuff up front, but based on a cursory glance, it didn't look like they were being rotated very frequently. I could be way off! I will pay attention the next time I go and see if anything looks familiar. We went back this morning for breakfast, but arrived at 11:45. They stop serving breakfast at noon, and even though we were asked, "2 for breakfast?" when we arrived, the waitress brought out lunch menus. She disappeared for a while, so I took it upon myself to find a breakfast menu. We each ordered an apple pancake and bacon, and my husband got a side of weisswurst. I had a coffee, which is their house blend and pecan flavored. I haven't had a cup of regular ass non-espresso coffee in a while, so it seemed weak but I did like the flavor. The food arrived pretty quickly, to which I uttered, "holy shit!" The waitress cut me off and finished, "Holy schnitzel!" which was adorable. My pancake looked to be a little undercooked, and seemed slightly doughy. But I'm not a big German pancake connoisseur, so maybe that's the point? It tasted great, except I had bites that included carrot, bell pepper, and celery, so I guess the apples must live adjacent to the salad fixin's? The bacon varied--a couple slices were undercooked and a couple were perfectly done. The weisswurst was pretty tasty. Our total was $35, which seemed reasonable. Like I said, I really WANT this to be a good place so I will probably come back and order the same thing, but a little earlier in the day. I know how cranky kitchen folks can get when you order the wrong thing at the wrong time, so I assume they were irritated about making pancakes at lunch time and just slapped 'em together in a hurry. No big deal--we enjoyed getting out to this part of town, and the seats on the deck were awesome.

So disappointing. The beer was really good, but overpriced. They make their own beer so that's cool. The best part of the meal was the mustard. Everything else was "meh". The service was definitely lacking. If you don't mind spending your hard-earned money on a highly priced mediocre meal then this is the place for you.

This was essentially suppose to only be a meeting point for our group to meet up for a Sunday morning hike up Stone Mountain. Ultimately, someone would decide that they were hungry so off we went inside. I can only comment on the in-house beers that we got since I was more so on a liquid diet that day. Both of them were very good and only $5 per pint! The sandwiches, eggs benedicts and other entrees my friends got all looked good and no one had any complaints about their food. So all was good with the world and off we went on to our hike!

We saw this place on the way to Stone Mountain. We initially wanted some Down South cooking unique to Georgia but thought this place would be as unique as we'd ever find anywhere. We were so disappointed. This was resort-type food--expensive and bland. I didn't realize at the time but in retrospect, it all makes sense. Stone Mountain is kind of like a resort. The Village Corner simply banks on it's best asset--location, location, location. Strategically placed at the bottom of the mountain practically near the entrance, we were intrigued by the jarring architecture and the huge signs. We bit hard... as I would imagine a lot of other people would as well. It's a total tourist trap complete with an overpriced gift shop. I'm so sad because it was our last day in Atlanta and we chose this place instead of cuisine that is more akin to the area.

Grapefruit Hefeweizen was delightful. Reuben was also very very good! Atmosphere is really cute German restaurant. Great little bakery off the back. We just happened to stop in and we were pleased with the service and food. We recommended it to our friends who live in Georgia as a place to try!!

To say I was underwhelmed is an understatement. After waiting several minutes to be acknowledged we decided to seat ourselves. After several minutes, someone brought us a basket of cold bread with no plates. Getting angry at the continued lack of service and being ignored (by the way there were several open tables), I made a point of it to the main server. He not only made it seem like it was our fault for not waiting on a host to seat us, he was agitated that I was not happy about it. Nonetheless all I could stomach at that point was a beer as I had just finished a long workout and needed some carbs! We had the waitress (who was actually trying) bring us a new basket of warm bread and beer. She also brought us their famous giant pretzel on-the-house, which was mediocre at best (the brickstore has a wayyy better pretzel) and I'm glad I did not pay for it. Nonetheless I did not feel like ordering any of their food at this point and further supporting this place. There are simply much better (german food) places that actually care. Do yourself a favor and go to another place (i.e Der Biergarten).

We just went to Village Corner German for the first time. We were very pleased with our experience. Jessica was our waitress, she was very helpful. For an appetizer we got the giant pretzel with cheese sauce and mustard (both homemade). My whole family enjoyed it. For dinner my wife got Wiener schnitzel with vegetables, it was excellent. I got the schweine haxe with cabbage and mashed potatoes, it was amazing. My daughter got the kids speatzle, she said it was delightful. My other daughter got a knackdog, it was good but too much seasoning for her more like a bratwurst than a hotdog. Overall this dining experience was divine. I would definitely recommend this great, family friendly restaurant to anyone who needs a wonderful place for dinner near Stone Mountain.

Food was good, waitress was great, manager was bad, owner is horrible! What's the best way to relax after a nice hike in stone mountain? My friends and I thought it would be to grab some sausage and drink some beer. (Man, I hate it when I'm wrong) We decided to stop by this place, because I have been here before and enjoyed myself. We go inside and ask to sit outside. It was a beautiful sunny day and we didn't want to sit inside, because it was dark and musty. (The building is old) When we get to our table we discovered we had a wonderful waitress who takes our beer and food orders. My friends and I all get a round of beers and start talking about the hike. Before we know it, bees start flying around our table. They must have started smelling the beer and pretzels which were quite tasty. All of a sudden, a bee flies right into my beer that I had received no more than 5 minutes earlier and had taken a mere two sips from. I got the waitress and asked her if I could get a new beer? I thought, "no worries I'm sure they'll replace it for me"; OH was I soooooo wrong! (Again, I hate to be wrong ;) ) The waitress came back with no beer and a nervous look on her face. She said, "I'm sorry, my manager said I can't replace your beer because you chose to sit outside in nature and if a bee falls in then a bee falls in and that's not their problem." I looked at her stunned for a minute and said, "really?!?" She said there was nothing she could do. So I asked for my old beer back and I would just scoop the old bee out. She replied, "we have already gotten rid of the beer." "So I'm not going to have to pay for that beer right", I asked. "Yes, unfortunately my manager says you will." "Please get me the manger." The manager comes out and states basically the exact same thing as the waitress; shame on me for sitting outside and I should've covered my beer at all times. However, this time it is because the owner said no. I asked if this was the type of customer they wanted to lose? A repeat customer that brings back more friends each time he comes. Also, did they want me to have to explain this online with a review? Her response, "oh bad reviews happen all the time, people still come!" My friends and I were shocked that this manager and owner cared nothing about losing maybe 2 dollars that it would've cost them to exchange my beer and would rather fight me on it. The first manager did come back out, throw some beer on the table, and stated that she had to pay out of her own pocket to the owner for the beer. Well, jeez thanks for ruining my appetite. Next time you're in the area I would highly recommend something else, unless you like fighting with managers and owners who think the customer is always wrong. Or unless you like your beer with a hint of bee. :)

This place has good German food and a nice selection of German beers but it falls just short of great. Definitely would recommend this for those nearby but I myself will not be driving over an hour again to come here. The food is as close to authentic German food as you can get state side. The spaezel was as good as my Omi (grandmother) makes it. I was put off by the wait staff. The host seemed lost and the waitstaff seemed exhausted? I dont know maybe it was an off day. I would definitely recommend trying this place. Also for those who dont know much about German beers - try squeezing a lemon into your Hefeweizen (weissbier) it enhances the flavor and is amazing. The waitstaff does not know this so you must ask for it on the side.

While the food was good the service was aweful. We were put in a corner and forgotten about. Our server got food to four other tables that arrived after we did, one of which had an almost identical order ours. Our server also never checked on us.By the end of our meal we waited at least another 10 minutes for our check and would have waited much longer had we not asked another server to get our waitress. It is just not a pleasant experience. The oversized pretzel with mustard was delicious though.

Oh how we LOVE this place. This hidden jem has been around for years and has consistently been DELICIOUS. My husband and daughter has the sourdough french toast with Bratwurst. I had the sausage plate with potatoes. We got dessert but it was so much food we had to take it home. This place is definitely a must try!

There is nothing I DON'T like about this restaurant, from the pecan roast coffee, to the rich desserts, from the huge pretzel, to the weekend brunch and finally having eaten dinner there I can also say the spaetzle, sauerkraut and any piece of meat you order with them. I wish they weren't so far away from Lawrenceville, but it's always worth the trip.

I have been spending my hard earned dining dollars here for year. The food is extremely authentic and the amount of food for the money is a great value. They have now added a microbrewery and will bottling their own beer in the near future. I'm sure it will be a great success for them. I can't wait for my next visit!

Okay. So the inside was really cool and homey. The waitress was nice enough. The food was okay. A tad too salty. My son who's picky didn't even eat his fries. Too salted . The quiche was in the dry side but the cheese cauliflower soup was delectable. Kind of pricey for me but I would go with a friend next time to try out the brews. Can't enjoy it with mumbling kids

This place has the potential of 5 stars, but the inattentive service, long wait to be seated (15 minutes & the place had 8 - 10 tables open), and cold food (not lukewarm, plain old COLD), held it back. But the crab cake dish will bring us back. I had the crab cake Florentine, with creamed spinach, poached egg, and potatoes ($15.95). DELISH!! Highly recommended. It was crunchy on the outside, but moist and full of flavor inside. My partner had the smoked salmon Florentine, 3 egg omelet. The first order was COLD, and the omelet was overcooked. The second order was hot and fresh. It was good (but the crab cakes were much better). $15.95. The coffee was a nice surprise, hazelnut or pecan I believe. Very respectable cut of java. We grabbed a few dessert treats to take home. They are priced well to allow you to try a few different varieties ($1 - 3). Not much ambiance to speak of...we were there immediately after church for brunch.

The food here is better than 2 stars. In fact the sandwich and pretzel we ordered were both pretty good! This review is about the beer, which seems to be a big part of the reason that many stop in. When we were in a few weeks ago they were serving their own beer that they say is brewed in house. The whole setup looked great and I was excited to try their selection. This is where it all fell apart. They didn't know how to spell doppelbock, which is concerning since it's a German restaurant. I saw it spelled wrong on the tank and some of the menus. It didn't taste like a doppelbock. The pilsner was too dark - amber in color. It was so dark, it could not have resembled a pilsner in flavor. The one guy who ordered one didnt like it, as we suspected. Even the hefeweizen was almost the same color. In fact they all looked about identical to the Oktoberfest, which was very bland. The good new is that a pint is only $5. I'm not a beer snob by any means. I have however brewed beer many, many times and am fairly well versed in the BJCP guidelines. When you get to a certain point of beer knowledge, you stop judging beers as much on whether or not you like them, and more on how well they are made. I may not be in love with Bud Light, but I'll admit that it's brewed to standards second to none. It is what they say it is and therefore you know what to expect when you order one. I kind of feel sorry for the owner, since he's contracting this out he can't understand what is happening. He needs to sit down with a few respected commercial examples of each beer style and taste them next to his offerings. He needs to do this with people he trusts who can give him honest feedback about what he's serving. The he needs to hold his brewer to higher standards, unless of course it's only about the money.. in which case it'll all be over soon enough.

Unfortunately, I am unable to write a review about the food and beer at this restaurant, for, before we could even order, the waitress absurdly yelled at me for resting a dog water bowl on one of the outdoor picnic tables. This was as I was handing it to her to fill, but before I could do so, she abruptly, and in an alarmingly mean tone, shouted "GET THE DOG BOWL OFF THE TABLE! GET IT OFF NOW!" Maybe I shouldn't have rested the empty bowl on the side of the picnic table in the dog friendly porch area, but please, all it would take would be a simple and polite "Miss, would you mind not resting that there?" I would have responded "of course, I'm sorry," and all would have been merry. Did I mention it took at least 10 minutes for her to come to the table to ask for our drink order (and verbally assault me)? This was after my husband took the time to go inside and personally notify her that we were sitting outside and ready to order. Not to mention the fact that I overheard the table next to us, who already had their drinks, comment that they were tired of waiting and didn't know "what was taking so long." So, the moral of the story is, I am not qualified to comment on the food, but I can say that the service, specifically this waitress on the patio, was terrible. It's too bad, because we were really looking forward to a large pretzel and some good German beer.

    1. The German beer selection is very good. 2. The ambiance is fun and not overly kitschy. 3. The German plates look great-unfortunately we didn't have any because we went on Sunday and got the brunch menu. If you're looking for pretzels and sausage just ask for the pub menu. We had a Euro meat and cheese plate-there was nothing European about it but it was fine. In fact, saved by the bread. See #4. 4. FANTASTIC bakery. Outstanding breads and pastries. Yum yum yum. We'll be back. Possibly for Oktoberfest!

Would have loved to try the Reuben but that never happened. After waiting a bit long for a table, our waitress arrived to take out drink order. When she returned with our sodas, we said we would like a few minutes to decide but put in an order of homemade chips. Almost 30 minutes passed without seeing our waitress or the chips. We were starving and decided our best option was to leave and find food elsewhere.

"After we climb Stone Mountain, what do you want to do?" she asked. "How about we eat 20 pounds of German sausage?" I replied. I meant it as a joke. She (nor James H.) took it as one. Thus began our ill-advised trip to the Village Corner. It actually wasn't so bad, as far as eating German food after walking uphill until your heart burst goes. Granted, it was a beautiful Spring day, flowers in bloom and I was too tired to make food decisions. I was even too tired to make puntastic comments like "I've never sausage a place before! I expected wurst!" This was fine, because I'm sure the folks at the Village Corner have heard it all a million times; I mean, nobody does comedy like the Germans. We were seated on the porch. Though the beer beckoned, we all refrained and instead ordered Cokes (sorry, no Coke. Pepsi!) Sorry, PEPSI. Oh we also ordered some schnitzel, a sausage plate and a giant pretzel. When the food arrived, it was a veritable sausage party. We were shocked by the size and variety. It was more sausage than anyone of us could put in our mouths at any one time. Our threesome could barely handle this much sausage. (OK, am I done with the sausage jokes yet? No? Fine. "That's what she said!" THERE. Now am I done? No? Try this: "Penis." OK, NOW I'm done.) There were 3 different types of sausage. The brats were the best. The knocks? Fine, but nothing too crazy. There was some weird burger thing that I don't know was authentically German or not, but it had some longass name with lots of consonants in it. The potatoes were crispy, the sauerkraut tangy. The schnitzel was lemony and buttery, but make sure to eat it quick, lest the butter sauce congeal into something less than appetizing. The pretzel was good, but wasn't as sublime as you'd think a bakery would offer. In all, everything was fine. That doesn't sound like a ringing endorsement and I guess it's not. But I think it's more of a function us eating German (or more specifically Bavarian) food. Even when it's good, it's just ok. But roll in the workman-like (but not exactly memorable) service and the fact that we didn't (though probably should have) try any sweets, and this review averages out to 3.5 stars rounded down to 3.

Great German food! My boyfriend and I spent Oktoberfest in Munich (he's German) and this is the only restaurant in Atlanta that is even comparable to true German cuisine. It's very authentic and well prepared. The service was great, the waitress was friendly and live music was a huge plus! Highly recommended!

I chose to eat here because I really wanted spaetzle and the reviews looked really good. I was utterly disappointed in the spaetzle. It was like eating boxed Thanksgiving stuffing: very bread-like and not much flavor. Didn't look like they'd been sauteed after boiling - there was no color to the noodles. The chopped bacon in the noodles was probably the best part, very sad, aw........ Definitely recommend the Ruben sandwich - the corned beef was absolutely amazing!!!!! It comes with a potato salad that I would rate as 'okay', nothing to write home about. If you get a side of chips, know that they are fresh and really fantastic (they're extra delicious for me to recommend them - I usually don't like fresh chips). I took a sip of the tomato basil soup and I really liked it. It is a vegetable soup (lots of veggies) with a very strong, smooth tomato/basil flavor. Yay! On the way out, you should stop by the dessert area! The bear claw I got was *so* good! Very cinnamon-y and loaded with walnuts, mmmmm! I also highly recommend the wedding cookies. I saw a lot of online praise for the baklava, but that was only so-so for me. Too sweet! I know, I know, that is kinda the point of this pastry but I have eaten not-so-sweet versions that are more my style. I might as well have just eaten a large spoonful of honey - the honey taste was too overpowering. We were seated quickly and the food came out in a timely manner. Cool. Overall a quaint spot that I would definitely come back to (with minor caveats on menu items to avoid).

Came here for dinner with another couple on a Friday night. It wasn't busy at all and we were seated right away. We didn't realize until we'd ordered that the place is on Scoutmob-what an awesome surprise! Our waitress was great and gave us several beer recommendations since we weren't familiar with the German offerings. Our food came out quickly and all four of us cleaned our plates. We ordered the veggie burger, reuben, schnitzel sandwich and pork and kraut special. Everyone really enjoyed their meals. So much so that we were too full to order dessert. That's my only regret. On the way in and out you pass by the bakery and can see all their delicious-looking desserts. Next time I'll definitely have to save room for some baklava or cake!

Will not go back. Had dinner there last evening with a total of 5 people. 2 of the meals were ok, not great and the other 3 were less than desirable. On a positive note, I will say the large pretzel was good. The reason for this harsh rating (and I use YELP at least 4 times a month to find restaurants and this is my first time to ever feel compelled to write) is the total lack of caring on the part of the owner on how bad one of the meals was. My son had the Jaeger Schnitzel and the red cabbage which was all over the plate had way way way too much clove in it. You didn't need to taste it as you could smell it without tasting. My son had about 2 bites and that was it. What a waste of $18.00. I mentioned it to our waitress and she didn't really seem to care. I asked her to make sure to tell the chef as you really don't want to serve that without warning, again she didn't really seem to care. I asked her upon her return if she told the chef and she made some excuse that the people that made it were in there in the morning and the people there now didn't make it so it wouldn't matter. She could tell I seemed a little perturbed and asked if I would like her to send the owner over. I said that would be great. After sitting and waiting and not seeing anyone for approximately 20 minutes, we decided to leave and pay the bill. While my wife was buying some cookies (terribly overpriced for the quality) the person at the register asked how our meal was. She seemed minimally apologetic. While I was standing there I saw the owner and he saw me and as I started to motion to him, he ducked into the back room. I explained to the cashier that it would be nice if the owner would care enough for him to came out so I could at least tell him how disappointed I was in the one meal specifically (the rest were edible). She apologized and said she would get the owner to come out to talk with me. In 1 minute she returned and said the owner could not come out to talk with me as he was talking with friends.... I hope his friends continue to bring him a lot of business as I am sure I will not be back and have never felt compelled to write a bad review, but he got to me. I can accept a bad meal and a I am sorry, we appreciate you letting us know. BUT to duck out and refuse to talk to a paying customer who just dropped $140 on 5 meals and then another $18 on 4 cookies, I find totally unacceptable. I always figure if a restaurant has 8 out of 10 good reviews, it will most likely be good as you can never please everyone. I now have a better understanding on how some restaurants can upset the one or two people out of 10. Maybe he was just having a bad day and didn't want to talk to any customers... I any case, on this round I am in the 2 out of 10 that wont be going back and have to give this a very very low rating. I hope you have better luck if you should decide to eat here.

Took my mother for an Authentic German Lunch..... Fasting,I continue to live vicariously through others. The Village Corner is the only German restaurant that I have ever encountered in the U.S that offers a genuine German quality and flavor. I eat there quite frequently. The owners are very cordial and my favorite waitress (Brie) is very knowledgeable about the menu and Biers. My mother enjoyed the Zitronnen Schnitzel accompanied by rot kraut and spaetzle. Past experience speaking, they make it just like my grandmother! Delicious! My mother had a Giant Hot Pretzel for starters...make sure they serve you butter (both warm and cold). Otherwise, you just aren't experiencing like in Germany. She chose to wash it down with a Warsteiner, although The Village offers several Imports. My personal fav is a Bottle of Riesling, I'm a touch too wimpy for the German BIers. If you are in Atlanta and want to taste German *Wie ins Deutschland, you must visit The Corner Village in Stone Mountain. Ask for Brie and start off with a Pretzel! Prost!!! I am giving The Village Two thumbs up for Atmosphere and efficient service. The food comes out quick and I love the decor, reminds me of the Haufbrauhaus' in Germany!

Went in for lunch and took a seat, since the sign said seat yourself. My girlfriend and I waited for a few minutes and a few waitresses walked by and asked if we were being helped and we said no. Finally had to get our own menus off of another table and took about 15 minutes for a server to come and get our order. He didn't know much about the menu, didn't even know if the soups were home made or not, how could you not know that and be a server? That's embarrassing. We finally got our soup and sandwich and it was nothing special. We waited a while for our check while the server was sitting down with another table and talking for a good 10 minutes. This place seemed extremely disorganized and the servers need to be better educated on the menu and a better personality. The bathroom smelled bad, no handsoap and was not clean. We had a scoutmob and our meal was half off. Otherwise, I wouldn't of paid for the meal and gotten a manager. It was that bad... Would never go back and you should not try this place.

If you love pastries and any other sweet treat, you've gotta try this place. They had some of the best baklava I've had in a long time. I met there for business, but after seeing the truly crazy amount of fresh desserts they had on display, I had to get a box of just about everything. Their pastry selection is insane. You've gotta try: the baklava, wedding cookies, lemon squares, cannolis, oatmeal cookies. Such a cute little place, decorated like a German pub. Its really, REALLY far out for me to drive, but I would. I really would drive out here just for the baklava. It was to die for.

Excellent German food and the service was wonderful. I would definitely recommend this place to friends and family. Try the Chicken Marsala, the Rouladen and if u like Mac-n-Cheese you'll love the Spaetzle noodle! PS: There might be the occasional drunk biker out on the beer garden.

The family had a hankering for German food so we stopped in last night to try out The Village Corner. First, let me say that my wife and I lived in Germany for a few years and have had a lot of good German food. We were huge fans of Vreny's/Kurt's before they moved to their new location and changed the style of the restaurant. This was our first time stopping in at The Village Corner and, based on mixed reviews and our past experience with German dining, we were hopeful but didn't expect greatness. Overall, it was just OK. The service was polite but inattentive. We saw our waitress when she took our order, dropped off our appetizers, delivered our food, and delivered our check. There was no follow-up to see if the food was OK and we sat with empty drink glasses for most of the meal. Beverages were refilled when the main courses were delivered but ran dry after that and weren't refilled again. We had 6 people and an automatic gratuity was added to the check so perhaps the server didn't feel a need to take care of us. The food was mixed. The potato pancakes were tasty but sat in the window too long before they were delivered to the table (cold). The pretzel was OK - it was also a bit cold but the mustard served with it was very good. The main courses came out hot so no complaints there. The sauerbraten wasn't bad but needed more salt and could have been served with more gravy (which we would have asked for had the waitress returned before we finished eating). The schnitzel was hot, crisp, and well seasoned - a bright spot in an otherwise forgettable meal. The rouladen was edible but flavorless and, like the sauerbraten, would benefit from more gravy and seasoning. The red cabbage was OK but a little too much clove for my taste. The sauerkraut was supposedly homemade but tasted like it came from a jar. Nothing like the flavorful kraut from Kurt's. Overall The Village Corner was just average. I'd rate them 3 stars but, for $175 including a mandatory gratuity, I expect a lot more so I have to give them a 2.

I'm also on a quest to find a good German Restaurant! So this was recommended by a friend, so I took the long journey out to Stone Mountain to give it a try. The pastries are the best part of this entire restaurant, well and the beer of course! They have the best selection of German foods I've seen so far in Atlanta but I feel the tastes were all the same and kinda bland overall. with one exception the German Bratwurst was perfect

A great place! I love the atmosphere and decor. The food was good (not AMAZING) and the beer was yum. Overall, though, the prices are just too high for the area, the portion size and the quality of what you get. I'll probably be back, but I have a hard time justifying paying $13 for a lunch schnitzel plate that small and un-filling. I probably could have eaten two! Maybe I'll try to order something else next time or wait until they have some kind of special going?

It's hard to find German food anywhere, and it's nice to find good German food when you do. And the fact that The Village Corner evokes the feeling of a real Bavarian restaurant is even better. The Jaeger Schnitzel (breaded pork loin cutlet pan saute and topped with mushroom red wine sauce) is delicious. They flatten the pork and saute it until a nearly perfect crust forms. The mushroom wine sauce is incredibly savory. Mmmm. Spaetzle (basically a type of noodle) and red cabbage come on the side, but I substitute the red cabbage for German potato salad. Definitely try the amazing, authentic German potato salad. I've never sampled anything from the bakery but everything looks good. The only downside is a slight uncleanliness factor. Nothing atrocious, but my silverware has looked dingy and, on the latest visit, my sweet tea tasted a little funny--like maybe the glass had not been washed well. Other than that, The Village Corner is a super cute place with great food, decent service, and a fun atmosphere.

Wait time for beer, apps, & entrees was a bit long. When entree arrived, it was cold. Took a bit to re-heat in a microwave or something. Debated whether or not to return it: should I wait 20 more mins while drinking beer and watching my companions finish off their platter only to be re-served a tepid entree I'd end up asking for to-go anyway? Das Boot beer was not quite worth the wait - giant beer, but glasses stored above the bar on customer-facing ledge and I had at least 2 dead fruit flies on my glass rim. High hopes dashed. So close to acceptable. Won't be back for a meal, maybe the bakery. But probably not. And it's a shame since I'm at Stone Mountain Park all the time. $65/person with tip. Never again.

German beer- check. German food- check. Authentic- pretty close to it! It is nice to have a German place in the city- I just wish it was closer to Alpahretta. They also have a drink here- called underberg- it is a digestif I have only seen here- you have GOT TO TRY IT! I would recomend to sit at the bar, as my photo suggests...

The staff was friendly but the food was not very good. The sauce and spatzle were bland and the red cabbage was limp and tasted like an onion. The atmosphere was not pleasant either. They put us between two large parties instead of a more private table that was available around the edge of the restaurant.

NEVER AGAIN. We went there for my friend Joel's birthday dinner on sunday and everything went great except for a little mishap while eating our meal. A woman which we assumed is the owner threatened to throw the birthday boy's cake away and i bet she was joking(i hope so). We were kinda confused but being a good yelper, i read reviews before going here so I figured she made the statement because they apparently have a good bakery here. No biggie. Then a convo went on between Joel and the owner about a Polish dessert and she was like "oh i know all about Polish food and I've never heard of that". Then she suddenly remembers and says "aaah i know exactly what you're talking about but it's spelled and pronounced blablablabla" which was the SAME spelling and pronunciation Joel told her. After the awkward moment, we get the cake out of the box and are ready to sing happy birthday and cut the cake. BUT hold on, Joel asked for the waitress because apparently, he gave her $25 cash and asked her to put the rest on the card BUT THE GIRL PUT EVERYTHING ON THE CARD AND POCKETED THE $25 CASH. She offered to void the transaction and re-do but he was worried because a "void after" takes a few days and when she runs the card again, the 2nd transaction might not go through. Then Joel asks for his $25 back ... she gave it back with an attitude and says "let me know if you need anything" and leaves the room. Then they turned the lights OFF. At that point, the birthday boy was just upset and we put the cake back without singing and just finished our conversation outside. Im wondering why the waitress would think someone would give her a $25 tip on like, a $40 bill. And he did tell her how he wanted her to apply it so that was really presumptuous of the girl. As for the food, it was mediocre and It was not worth driving all the way to Stone Mountain for. I got the Salmon with rice and you betcha anyone can make that if they have a recipe. They have escargot on their menu for those that like it(like me) but I didn't order because my friends were grossed out by the thought of it. LOL

We went to the Village Corner on a Saturday night and waited nearly an hour to be seated. There were plenty of plenty of tables and the staff was less than accommodating. Good authentic German food and beer on tap. Just not sure if it was worth the wait.

Actually I'd mark this as 2.5 but that isn't an option so I'll go for 3. This place has gorgeous pastries that don't quite make it on the taste meter. We had the strawberry rubarb pie and I am very nearly certain that it was canned. Too, the crust had that icebox flavor that is hard to miss. Prior to that we had a bit of lunch. I had the ruben sandwich. My friend had the vegetarian burger (although I don't know why). Anyhow, the corned beef is interesting but for $10 it occupied only 1/4 of the standwich. The rest was sauerkraut and russian dressing. A bit greasy for my taste. The German potato salad which accompanied it was not quite up to par either. It tasted like they used a mashing potato and cooked it til it was nearly mashed. Not a bad flavor but not exactly what I've come to expect from my visits to Deutschland. The pickle was good and it wouldn't surprise me if they did it themselves. The vege burger was simply ok. Up against a Boca Burger the Boca wins. That dish came with a noodles (a bit redundant of starch given that there is bread and starch in the burger). This item was $9.00 Ambiance was potentially darling. The place seems popular for afternoon tea and kuchen. Pricey for what is served, however. But that is only my opinion.

This place is a huge rip off, especially when compared to the much better German restaurant, Der Biergarten on Marietta St. Downton Atlanta. We made the huge mistake of going here during their best attempt at a little Oktoberfest celebration. You would think the management would have planned ahead a little in anticipation of higher demand, but you would be wrong. We only saw 2 servers and one busboy for the entire restaurant. We waited 25 minutes before the poor busboy managed to send a server to us. Having served at an Irish pub during St. Paddy's Day, I know how tough it is for the servers on crazy busy days, but this guy repeatedly forgot about us, and it took about 30 minutes to receive anything we ordered, including drinks. Food and drink taking a long time is forgivable if BOH and/or the bar is slammed, but not so much if your server just continuously forgets about you, which is what our server outright told us he did. Speaking of the drinks, this place is grossly overpriced compared to any other bar/restaurant in the Atlanta area, even in Buckhead. Our party of four ordered four steins (one liter mugs, the equivalent of two pints) of Spaten Oktoberfest. It's sad to say, but Spaten is actually an InBev Anheauser-Busch product now, but because of the increased production and distribution, most package stores charge about $11.99 for a 12 pack. Most likely on purpose, the Village Corner didn't list any of the prices on the menu, and our server, who must have served hundreds of liters, conveniently didn't know the prices either. Knowing that the price for this InBev beer was so cheap in stores and the price Der Biergarten charges for the same liter ($8-$11 depending on promos) we figured a liter at Village Corner would be at the very most $12 or the equivalent of $6/pint, which is fair. We were dead wrong. I'm not sure what the ownership/management is thinking here, but the Village Corner feels they can charge $17 a liter, or $8.50/pint for an InBev product. That's right folks, $8.50 a pint. Stunned, and thinking this must be a price gouge for their awful Oktoberfest celebration, we asked our server if this was the normal price, and he suddenly remembered that this was the standard price year round. That acute case of amnesia didn't last too long. I ask you, fellow beer-drinking Atlantan, have you ever seen a pint of Spaten or any other InBev product sell for $8.50? I surely haven't, and I plan on never seeing it again. So there you have it Atlantans. If you're in the mood for German beer and some decent German food you have three options: 1) Go to the package store and spend $11.99 for a 12 pack (over 4 liters) of Spaten and grill some brats at home 2) Go to Der Biergarten and enjoy liters, including Paulaner Salvator Dopplebock, for $8-11 and great entrees starting at $11 with great service 3) Go to Village Corner and spend $17 for a liter and at least $17 for any entree, while waiting 30 minutes to get anything you order I think we can all agree that option 3 is the worst. Do yourself a favor and avoid this place and their unjustifiable profit margins.

We left before we even ordered drinks. We were rudely seated at a table by a very unwelcoming hostess. Of the 4 side plates, 2 had dried food on. When we asked for replacements, one of those was dirty too and when we pointed it out to the hostess, she rubbed it with her thumb and tried to point out that it was clean. We left, deciding we didn't want our last night of vacation ruined. We would have regretted spending our money there for sure.

Delicious food, 8 German beers + Pilsner Urquell on tap, many bottles. Authentic German atmosphere, transported to southern US. Three words: Schweine Haxe, ausgezeitnet! I lived in Germany years ago and wanted to like this place. Made two stops in one day while in town for conference. First was for an afternoon beer and pretzel. Tasty and big! That evening for dinner Herr Claus recommended a bottled German beer I'd never heard of along with the Tagesgericht, Schweine Haxe, aka osso bucco. It was extremely good. Marzipan from the bakery was excellent too. Looks very authentic from the outside and is equally authentic inside. It feels like being in a bar in Germany -- well, where everyone speaks English and many with a southern accent.... Claus and bartender Amy were very friendly and welcoming. In the evening a group of regulars sat at the bar and chatted with me. There are some negative reviews, but take a chance and give The Village Corner a try!

That's it! I've had enough.... I've been to this place seven times and have only eaten there four. Two of those times, I was ignored by the hostess for more than fifteen minutes to be seated. If the hostess would have had the courtesy to say "hey I'll be with you in a minute" things would have been cool and I would have waited longer before walking out. Making eye contact with me and then walking the other way to do something else several times is unacceptable. Because I love German food and this place isn't far from my home I kept trying. Another occasion I had taken three guests. We waited, and waited, and waited, the only people waiting to be seated. They weren't busy, a very small band was playing in the bar that evening so it was loud but not unbearable. When the hostess finally decided to stop hanging out at the bar she tried to seat us right next to the band. One of my guests asked her if we could be seated further away because he wouldn't be able to hear any conversation. She said "no this is the only table we have" plopped the menus down and walked away. There where at least 8 other tables that would have easily accommodated us further away. My guests being upset by the way the hostess was acting didn't even sit down, there was an unspoken signal given as we all turned and walked out. Now onto the times I've actually been able to eat there. I absolutely CAN NOT complain about the food. They make a stellar Rouladen, and a orgasmic Sauerbraten and what I've had of the sausages aren't bad either. Village Corner has a beautiful restaurant and patio, as big as the place is it is very cozy feeling, kinda like sitting at grandma's house. But the service, is miserable at best and almost qualifies as service from hell. I made a final trip to Village Corner last night and said goodbye to them with one of my favorite dishes. Once again it was a lot of bad service and a lot of good food. Next time I get a hankering for German I'll make a trip to Helen, GA and visit some of their German eating establishments but as far as the Village Corner it no longer exists.

The wife and I ate here last night and were very pleased, food is quite authentic. Roulades and Jaegerschnitzel were both very good. Red Cabbage was one of the best I have eaten! Service was attentive and friendly. Very good selection of German and Domestic Biers.

Though I am an Atlanta native, I did live in Karlsruhe, Germany for three years while serving in the military, and I grew to love German cuisine. The two most well-known German establishments in the Atlanta metro area are Kurts in Duluth and The Village Corner in Stone Mountain. They are both excellent establishments, serving authentic German fare for reasonable prices. The Village Corner, run by Claus and Hilde Friese, has been in business since the early 70s, and it has become a Stone Mountain landmark for those of us who reside in the area. Visitors come and go, stopping in to rest on the patio with tall beers and brochen and leave with boxes and bags full of the baked wonders from the bakery. Of their dishes, my personal favorites are the Rouladen, often called Rindsrouladen in Germany, basically beef rolls - bacon, onions, mustard, and pickles wrapped in thinly-sliced beef with a wonderous red wine gravy served with red cabbage and Spaetzle; the Jaeger Schnitzel, scalloped and lightly-breaded pork with red wine sauce; and the Sauerbraten. On other days, we often enjoy sharing the European Sandwich Platter for two, which offers a bountiful selection of freshly-baked breads, turkey, salami, and Black Forest ham with all the fixings to build your own delights. The bakery is incredible. Hilde has a Granny Apple Cheesecake baked on a pound cake base that is to die for. I am a fairly proficient baker, and this is the only cake I ever buy. I am so thankful to live right down the street from The Village Corner, it's like having a little piece of Germany right in my hometown.

Solid German food in a town that just don't have any Teutonic soul. Located in the "city" of Stone Mountain, this restaurant has been making a go for 20ish years now. There is an adjacent bakery which seems to do decent business, but the restaurant is the draw for me. A thorough German menu, schnitzels and the like, and a pretty good wurstplatte also. The Jagerschnitzel was as good as I've had anywhere, in USA at least. Wine selection is also good, and they have several German biers on tap. They sometimes engage a loungy piano man on the weekends, but the overall noise level was tolerable. Service was a bit slow, but not enough to make me grumble... might have been schnitzel-induced lethargy though.

This is not the first time my husband and I have been here and I'm aware of the negative reviews, but we have always been lucky with the service here. Maybe it's because we don't go expecting much in the first place. We went last night while the Yellow Daisy festival was on at Stone Mountain so there were about 10 people waiting for the second dining room to open. We just asked if we could sit at the bar and went right in. I do believe that they tend to under staff but the servers apologized for the delay in opening the other dining room and later we heard a server apologize to a customer for the delay in bringing his food. Bottom line: if you're in a hurry don't go there. There are plenty of things to do while you wait - drink and talk to the other bar patrons. We both enjoyed Warsteiner Dunkle on tap. 20 oz for $5 - awesome price. Enjoy the reasonably volumed live music (only on certain occasions, subscribe to their newsletter for info). You can also shop at the bakery - incredible cookies (I get a platter of them every Christmas), breads, and cakes. I ordered the Jaeger Schnitzel (Wiener schnitzel with red wine mushroom sauce, spaetzle, and red cabbage) and my husband ordered the Schwein Haxe (braised pork shank with gravy, mashed potatoes and red cabbage). My entree was amazing especially the sauce. My husband's review of the Schwein Haxe: Fall off the bone tender and the mashed potatoes are the perfect texture - not too smooth, not too lumpy. Although the entrees were not cheap ($17-18), the generous portions mean we took half home for Sunday lunch today so I consider it a bargain. German food tends to be a little on the heavy side so order accordingly. My review is a little lengthy but I wanted to accurately reflect my experience there given the variability of the reviews here and besides I'm high on Gingerbread Cookie men from the Village Corner. Prost!!

Desperate for a good local breakfast we keep giving this independent a try. Upon seating we overheard the party at the adjacent table discussing the aftertaste in the Iced Tea. I thought they said the word "soap" . They proceeded to pass the offensive beverage around the table and there was general agreement and the reuse of the word "soap". The server wandered back into the room and the victim at the next table handed her the Iced Tea, indicating the presence of a noticeable detergent flavoring. She ventured over to our table and obtained our order. Simple-two eggs over medium, bacon, cheese grits and sour dough toast. I ordered coffee and my wife water. The reluctant server returned to inform the Iced Tea drinkers that she had started brewing a new cauldron of tea. She mentioned that she had also tasted the tea and found it to be "Soapy"-she turned around burped twice and filled the room with bubbles. My wife whispered something about the ambiance. My coffee arrived but I discovered that it was "southern pecan flavored" , really? Wouldn't you inform the guest prior to "surprising" him. Oh I get it, its a way of adding some down home southern charm to the menu. But, I have never met a natural pecan flavoring and generally abstain but now I am suspicious that folks are trying conceal the "soap" taste in the coffee with pecan flavoring. Our food arrived, the eggs were over cooked and the sour dough toast was room temp (it was a cool morning) The cheese grits were not immediately discernible. There was a thick mass of cheddery looking stuff on the top but what was underneath was unlike any grits this southerner has previously experienced. Actually, I am not quite sure that there was corn involved. It was more like a tasteless "mash" of some unidentifiable grain-like substance. Come to think of it, the rubbery orange mass on top of the so called grits had no taste either. Neither of us ate the grits or finished the eggs. The formerly attentive server never returned to refill my coffee so I picked up my water, took a sip only to notice a nasty brown smudge on the glass approximately one inch by two inches. . . . . We left abruptly. The pleasant cashier listened to our story and accepted the glass of water with the nasty smudge on it and our money. She indicated that she would inform the manager. Really, you cannot make this stuff up.

I pass this place every time I head to Stone Mountain. I finally went. I arrived at 11 AM and they were only serving breakfast. The breakfast was not anything life-changing but it was good. The German Apple Pancake was a foot in diameter, generously loaded with Granny apples, cinnamon, whipped cream, and syrup. Bacon was good. But the best part of the meal: the side of bratwurst. Darn good bratwurst, best since probably Miller Park in Milwaukee (it makes sense, that's the same ballpark where they race humans dressed as sausages). I will purposely start my hikes later in the morning so I can try the lunch menu. We may be on to something ... (Random visual: Image one of those Milwaukee sausage mascots hiking up Stone Mountain. THAT would be hilarious.)

I've been here enough times to see the good and bad in the reviews I've read. On a good day, you''ll be very glad you came. Especially if your party enjoys German beer and hearty food. When I took my man here to show him that we DO have some good places in this area, it fell flat. The letters on the sign outside must have been rearranged by some hooligan, because to us it read "Tonight Prime Rib". We inquired and our waitress practically called me a liar and went outside herself to check. She then came back and informed me that that was last night. I think i made her mad- I knew what was in for me the rest of the evening. The German beer selection is quite good and authentic. The schnitzel and spaetzle have always made my tummy happy, but I think it will be a bit before I can talk him into coming back. Maybe they need a fresh manager as the owners seem burned out on the "service" part of the business. For the community's sake, I hope they find a new outlook!

Meh sums it up. Went in looking for German food, ended up just finding country food with a German twang. Its actually not a bad place, just disappointed because we were really hoping to find some place legit. The lady that runs it is though, we spoke to her for a bit. Its just that its more southern food to Bavarian.

Yes!!!! German food in all it's glory. My lady has discussed this place since we met and we finally made the pull to go and eat. Arriving on a Sunday at 12:20pm I was surprised to find it semi empty, but it quickly filled in after we got seated. Parking is easy out front if you get in early, otherwise you maybe have to drive a bit, we didn't really survey the other options. The bakery is well filled with lots of glorious breads and cakes, enough to make you stop and look around. We got the brunch menu, limited a little but still packed, and a beer menu for the 10 minutes later and looked over them both. Lots of good German beers here, a lot on draft and in 20oz pours, the others in bottles are mostly 17oz choices and all good too. Wine selection is good as well. I ordered the crazy 'sausage for two' meal which is basically five types of sausage on a tray of sides, and holy hell is it a LOT of food. I ate for an hour and never broke into half the tray. Soooo good too, knackwurst, bratwurst, weisswurst, and two other weird ones that tasted great. Russet potatoes to die for and spaetzle that melts in your mouth. Yum. Pricey for sure, but for authentic food in a friendly, warm place, I'll pay it.

On our way to Stone Mountain last Friday my fiancé and I passed this place and decided to have lunch here after our hike. Yummy! German food! When we arrived we were greeted with a "please seat yourself" sign so we sat in a dining room with only one other table already eating. And we waited. After about seven to ten minutes we decided to wander over to the tavern portion of the restaurant, thinking that perhaps we could have our thirst quenched and our bellies filled by sitting at the bar instead. In the tavern there was again only one other table eating, but this time we actually encountered a waitress who rudely told us we had to go back and sit in the other dining room. Awkward! Any way we wandered back to our original table and waited a few more minutes for menus, which by the way had no indication of the marvelous beers we had only been allowed a glimpse of for a fleeting moment before we were shooed out of the tavern. We both helplessly flipped through the menu as she asked us what we wanted to drink, thinking, where's the beer list? is the tavern closed? Anyway, we settled for sweet tea instead. We ordered the Sausage Plate for Two. The food was great, and we really thought that the place was super cute, but unfortunately the service made the experience disappointing. Had the place been busier than just the three tables that were in here at 1:30 on a Friday afternoon, we probably would not have been so disappointed. I would have given this place four stars had the quality of the service matched the quality of the food. What a shame! Bottom line, we did not feel welcome, and we won't be back.

I've passed by this place before thinking "oh how quaint!" and this time I actually stopped in. I am glad that I did! It was a really good restaurant. Everyone enjoyed their meals thoroughly. The spaetzel (sp?) looked delicious although I did not get it. My quiche was also delicious. Also, we went to check out at the register and I just got enticed by all the delicious sweets. I had a shortbread with ganache and it just melted in my mouth. When I go to stone mountain next, I will definitely have lunch here.

Good food and beer -- good service. Me and guest each had the Jaeger Snitizel and it was very good and as one the guys said authentic. I have never been to Germany, but all I know it was GOOD!

Oh man oh man is this place full of fried! So after walking up Stone Mountain while it was dry we were forced to walk back down it while it was raining. My mom's shoes had no traction, and it was pretty awful to watch her fall THREE separate times and bounce on her butt. Needless to say by the time we got down we were wet and on the verge of tears, she was bruised, and we were starving. I would say that the experience at The Village Corner was average. I had the potato pancakes, which was actually just a nice way of saying overly-fried hash browns. My husband had a pretty tasteless and extremely pale beige sausage with his excessively large omelet. The waiter was super-nervous, but he was able to describe each different sausage in minute detail, so I guess that was a plus. All in all, next time I get soaking wet and slip down Stone Mountain, I'll probably try somewhere else.

We live a hop, skip and a jump from the "German bakery" and we're glad we do. We've enjoyed dinner here, stopped by for a German beer at the bar, frequent the bakery weekly but our favorite is having sunday brunch here. Their brunch menu varies but usual fares are German pancakes (the size of a plate), stuffed French toast, steak & eggs, the best biscuits, schnitzel, a choose 3 salads plate, all kinds of yummy food. The bakery is woooonderful. All the breads are made from natural ingredients - no preserves. The apple bread is my favorite. The selection of cakes, cookies, tarts, pies - oh my! My thighs just grow looking at all that yummy stuff. They offer flavored coffee - whole beans or pre-ground. My favorite is Southern pecan. This is served in the restaurant, as well. Service is usually pretty good. We've had slow but most of the time it's attentive and personable.

Went here during Stone Mountain Oktoberfest celebration. It was busy all day! There were fun games and dancing going on which brought out the German in everyone. =) Food - 4 stars I've been to Germany and I can say this was pretty darn close! I had the wiener schnitzel which was awesome with a side of German potato salad. Also very good! I tried a bit of everything from the meat platter that has 4 different weiners and they were all very good. They had a seedy mustard that was GREAT! Had a big raspberry beer thing that wasn't overbearing on the raspberry. Tasty. Service - 2 Stars I expected slow, but our waiter was awful. In general the service seemed pretty good, i think we just got a bad waiter. Price - not bad. Big beer, platter big enough for 2 and another side for about $25 (?). Overall would def go again and hope for another waiter. I didn't try any of the desserts but they looked AMAZING as well.

Village Corner is awesome! Great, authentic German dishes & the bakery is terrific. They do special occasion cakes particularly well. They did my friend's daughter's wedding cake (breathtaking!) & my husband's birthday cake (super beautiful & delicious!) Great bar & entertainment options too!

After our experience a few months ago, I sent an e-mail via the website for this restaurant. I received an e-mail apology and a gift card in the mail so last Friday, my husband and I decided to give them another chance and yet I'm still giving them only two stars. We arrived and were asked if we would like to sit outside. They have two tables out back so we said "okay" as it was a beautiful evening. We waited and waited and waited and were about to place the gift card on the table and leave when someone peeked out the door and asked if we had been waiting long. The man who came out informed us that he was the "delegator" which meant he told several different people to tend to us and it pretty much took forever to get waited on all evening. I can understand if they were busy but they weren't and there was more than one person standing up front not doing anything. They weren't even that busy during the dinner rush hour as we were leaving on a Friday night so I guess that should tell you something. I had the chicken wings again and they were still good although not as good as some of my favorite places around town. (i.e. Brockett) My husband ordered the Reuben again and it was definitely much better than the other one he had. He's crazy about the German potato salad but wasn't all that thrilled with his Reuben- he's clearly had better. We ordered an apple strudel for dessert and it was pretty good. On the way home, we decided we've given them enough chances and our time/money can be spent at much better local places around Atlanta.

I lived in Germany before moving back to the states to begin highschool and have had a hard time finding an authentic German restaurant ever since. My experience in Helen was quite horrifying as the waitress in some odd "German" burlesque outfit tried sadly to pronounce spaetzle. Anyway, the food at the Village Corner is pretty decent and the beer selection is wonderful. The service can be pretty poor as you have to wave down a server as they will not check on you unless you do, but, as I said, it is authentically German. Germans are known for their engineering, beer, and Oktoberfest, not customer service. I would definitely recommend giving it a try. The Jaeger Schnitzel and a nice large glass of Spaaten Optimator are a perfect combination.

I have been here twice. The first time was many years ago. A friend and I decided to give it a try because we both have been to Germany a number of times and love the food. The second time was this past weekend with my wife and her sister (both are German citizens). I have to say nothing changed over the years. The place seems to have the right idea, but the food is not very good and overpriced. I hate leaving bad reviews, but I was really disappointed. If you want good German food come over to my house - or go to Germany!

Went for dinner last night- food was good, cookies were old. Waitress was nice. However---- we spent over $60 at the establishment, and the owner would not honor our restaurant.com gift certificate for a measly $10..... when no doubt the markup on the drinks and cookies we purchased more than covered their cost. The certificate clearly stated that it did NOT expire. We met all the conditions stated on the certificate. We were told simply that "they stopped accepting coupons 7-8 months back" -- that is simply unacceptable! When you make a contract with a company like restaurant.com whose policy is to offer certificates that DO NOT EXPIRE, then you should honor those certificates, regardless of whether you do not currently offer new certificates. I'm appalled at the arrogance of the owner, and we will not be patronizing her restaurant any more. I mean, come on-- it had been awhile since we had been back to the restaurant after the bakery failed inspection and was shut down for a time, but the certificate is actually what brought us BACK to the establishment.... and for them not ot honor it??? Flabbergasting!!!!! Obviously this owner does not respect her patrons at all!!!!!

I am from Dallas, TX and in GA for 3 weeks on business. I LOVE german food. The reviews about the horrible service did not bother me because for some reason service is horrible at virtually all the German restaurants in the USA. I was extremely disappointed in the food. The place is very cute. I order the weiner schnitzel. They are clearly premaking them and just trying to reheat them. The pork was poor quality. The crust was no longer crisp and it was barely warm. The potato salad was very bland. I was also surprised that no German bread or roll was served with the meal. The size of the schnitzel was also 1/3 of the size of any of the other German restaurants I have been to all over the USA. I did get a piece of the pear cake on the way out and had it later. It was very good. Flavoraful, moist, right on.

Some of the best German food I've ever had. The prices are a bit steep, with entres averaging $15-20, but absolutely worth it. This is ideal comfort food, ample in portion and rich in butter, salt and cream. After a stressful day of moving this is just the break we needed. The ribeye steak was huge, about the size of two average steaks together, and cooked and seasoned perfectly. One of the few times I've been pleasantly surprised by a restaurant steak. The few different varieties of schnitzel are all pork, not veal, and are tender and richly sauced. A well-rounded selection of good German beers, wines and liqueurs complete the meal. Service is a bit slow, but gracious and casual. I haven't yet had a chance to try the bakery products, but they sure are fun to look at.

My husband and I have patronized the Village Corner Bakery in Stone Mountain on several occasions, mainly to support businesses in our neighborhood. The food was just ok and the cakes use to taste as described on their website. This year I ordered the Grand Marnier liqueur cake for my boss, based on the description of having, "4 layers of yellow cake soaked in Grand Marnier liqueur". I told my boss about it and he was excited. To our disappointment and my embarrassment, there was not a hint of the orange liqueur. It basically tasted like a yellow cake with butter cream. My other complaint is when I placed the order the person I spoke with was rude. However, when I called to complain to the owner about the cake I had purchased, I found out that the rude person I had placed the order with was the owner and he was still rude! He asked, "What do I want him to do?" I said check with the baker to insure the liqueur was not left out. He said he would and call me back. Of course I have not heard from him even after calling back and leaving a message. It would appear that customer satisfaction doesn't matter to him, but it matters to me so that is why I am writing this review. Businesses like this don't deserve our hard earned money. Don't waste your money here. There are a lot of businesses that take pride in customer satisfaction and the quality of their food.

Few people have ever said "Let's go out for German food" (including the Germans). But this is probably the best restaurant in Stone Mountain Village. It's like European soul food. Lots of great meat and potato type main dishes, fun beer selection and baked goods to buy on your way out. They also do breakfast on Saturday (not sure about other days). I had the apple pancake which was a huge crepe style pancake with green apples cooked in and smothered in whipped cream. Loved it. A bit pricey for what is essentially meat and vegetables. That costs them a star.

It was OK. Prices were a little over the top but the good beer and giant pretzel made me quickly forget about that.

My family visited place in April 2014 while visiting Atlanta. The place was recommended by AAA Travel Guide so we decided to give it a try. My mother in law was German so I am pretty familiar with German food. Well, this one was bad! Our dishes were serve cold, my meat tasted like it was frozen and than reheated in a microwave, my fiancee's schnitzel was old, dry, chewy and covered with a lumpy sour sauce that had lumps of uncooked flour in it. The red cabbage was overcooked and old and spaetzle were sour and had consistency of glue. The mashed potatoes were good and the brat dog my daughter had was good too. Service was prompt and polite. The place is also overpriced. The bakery seemed fine and the display cases with cakes and cookies looked yummy but after experience with the food we did not want to take any chances.

Food is OK but the service is slow at best. There are currently at least three employees sitting at the bar drinking and talking about problems they have with their feet. Yes, they're taking off their shoes and socks! I think some of them are actually on the clock. They keep going in and out of the kitchen. I hope they aren't making my food.

I have mixed feelings about the Village Corner. Went there this past weekend for brunch with family. The staff is friendly enough but service needs some major improvements. It seemed to take forever to get service and get our server's attention. The only person I'd say could work on her friendliness is the hostess. She misinformed us that we could only order from the brunch menu (1 page of the menu) but according to our server, we could order anything off the menu. Everything about this place takes too long. Once we ordered, it took a long time to get water and then our coffees and then finally our appetizer. We ordered an appetizer to share to start out and I will say that it was the best damn pretzel I've ever had! And their mustard is amazing! Unfortunately after we devoured the delicious pretzel, we had to wait a really long time for our food. I spent more time waiting than eating at this place. Everyone's food arrived except mine. The waiter said, am I forgetting anything? Yes, my food. He quickly rushed off. He didn't return for about 15 minutes. He apologized for the delay when he returned with the plate. I actually think he forgot to put the order in for that dish. It was also one of the least complicated dishes out of all of them. How long does it take to make potato pancakes and throw some sour cream and applesauce on the side? When the final bill came, he did apologize again and indicated that he did not charge us for my plate since it took so long. That was very nice of him. Again, he was a very nice guy who just seemed overwhelmed with everything he had to do. But the service was painfully slow and we had to wait for any little thing so it put a damper on the experience. Food was okay, not bad. The pretzel and mustard stole the show! It's a cute place, I'd give it another shot one day when I'm in town. I may just go get a pretzel and a beer at the bar.
